I’m thinking of a picture of Donnant Beach on Belle-Île-en-Mer. My father is from there. The last time I went there was last year. I was supposed to go back this summer but couldn’t make it. Donnant Beach has the biggest waves; it’s the roughest on the island. You’re either facing the sea or with your back to it. When I think of this image that makes me feel good, I have my back to it. It’s not the sea that takes center stage, but the beach. It’s so beautiful. This beach is divided when you’re between low tide and high tide. What I see is a huge rock that marks the boundary, dividing the two beaches.
I’d also like for you to make this place your own and share your personal perspective with me. When I started figuring out how to feel better, I turned to meditation. I picture a place that brings me peace. Once I have that image in my mind, I can sense the smells, the sounds, the light, the sound of the waves. It gives me strength; it’s pleasant for me. It’s something personal. I can make of it whatever I want. It’s a place where I would live alone and that makes me feel good.
