I’d like a photograph of the Aiguilles du Port Coton in Belle-Île-en-Mer. That’s where our family has been gathering every August for the past 10 years. This year, we weren’t able to get together because I was here at the Institut Curie. I also have in mind a poem by Victor Hugo written on the back of a postcard from that place.
It’s a place steeped in history. The spires represent three rocks carved by the sea. I picture a view from the cliffs with the sea in the background. I picture only the spires in the photograph. An image that would capture the subtle shades of neutral colors in the rocks.
It’s a photograph that makes me think of freedom and faraway places. The years go by, but those hands are still there, despite the passage of time.
